Co-Founder, Interim Head of School
Jessica Flynn is a multi-passionate entrepreneur and award-winning educator. She has been called to help young individuals discover their potential and cultivate self-belief in their unique abilities. With a background spanning theater arts, education, business, design, and even construction, Jessica understands the importance of diverse interests and skills in realizing success. Recognizing the limitations of traditional education, she founded The YOU Power Project to inspire, empower, and equip today's students to succeed in an ever- evolving world.
The YOU Power Project takes a holistic approach to future-readiness, building confidence, resiliency, and transferrable skills so youth can find success anywhere. “Believing in the transformative power of strategy, activation, and fun, our programs guide students in identifying challenges and implementing actionable plans to overcome them”.
Jessica is dedicated to a shift towards Social Entrepreneurship and is committed to equipping students with the necessary skills and confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world. Moreover, by addressing SDGs 4 & 8, which promote quality education and decent work and economic growth, Jess and our team prepare students to become active contributors to society, shaping them into future leaders who are mindful of sustainable development and social responsibility.
Jessica is a recent recipient of the Education 2.0 Global Conference’s Outstanding Leadership Award and at the conference led a panel discussion on the role of the SDGs in shaping the future of education.

Co-Founder, Chief Architect of Purposeful Learning
Jordie Burton has spent 15 years working in classrooms and other educational spaces as a teacher and innovator in education. His career has been in the Toronto, Halton, and Simcoe District school boards. His dedication and innovative teaching methods have earned him recognition, including the 2019 HDSB Inspire Award, presented by the Trustees of HDSB, in acknowledgment of his exemplary contributions to student achievement and well-being.
Jordie has a vision for a better way of educating students. He believes that schools should provide safe spaces where youth feel welcome, challenged and supported in taking on risks. Jordie is passionate about creating spaces for youth to be authentic to themselves and their community.
Building on a foundation of educational experience and a life of learning, social impact work, and a dedication to supporting youth, Jordie sees The Academy as an opportunity to build a community school that celebrates the people in Southern Georgian Bay and provides a place for them to thrive because of school, not in spite of it.

We are proud to collaborate with Georgian College’s Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Department to bring world-class changemaking education to our students and community.
As part of this partnership, we are integrating #ChangeTheNow (#CTN)—an Ashoka-accredited social innovation program—into our curriculum, ensuring students engage in real-world problem-solving that fosters leadership, creativity, and social impact.
