About The Academy of South Georgian Bay
The Academy of South Georgian Bay is a purpose-built, community-rooted high school designed for students who thrive with flexibility, personalization, real-world learning, and deep belonging. Launching in September 2026, we blend Ontario Virtual School (OVS) credits with in-person experiential learning, changemaking projects, wellness practices, and mentorship.
Why This Role Exists
Over the past 2.5 years, our vision, partnerships, and program model have been thoughtfully built.
We are now seeking a visible, trusted educational leader to steward the next phase: family enrollment and launch readiness.
This is a founding leadership role with a clearly defined path to a salaried Head of School position once enrollment viability is reached.
Primary Responsibilities
Enrollment & Community.
Lead the founding enrollment campaign (goal: 20+ families). Host information sessions and serve as the primary educational voice for prospective parents.
School Readiness.
Act as the Founding Head in practice. Support the refinement of the student experience, daily rhythms, and learner supports.
Governance.
Participate in regular leadership advisory check-ins and contribute to the "go/no-go" decision in late Spring 2026.
We believe in total transparency. While the initial phase is focused on launch, we have already mapped out the operational and leadership requirements for the school once doors open.
Who We Are Looking For
This role is ideal for an experienced school leader (Principal, VP, or Senior Educator) who believes deeply in student-centered education.
You should be energized by building from the ground up and be a respected member of the South Georgian Bay community.

You are not starting from zero. The Academy has spent 2.5 years building a robust launchpad
Educational Model: Clear mission, philosophy, and experiential learning framework.
Partnerships: Established an agreement with Ontario Virtual School (OVS).
Assets: Live website, brand presence, and curated roster of experiential leaders.
Community: Strong local relationships and early interest from regional families.
Support: Active Co-Founders (Jessica Flynn & Jordie Burton) providing strategic, operational, and administrative guidance.
Compensation & Transition
During the Founding Phase (now – Spring 2026), this role is volunteer. Upon reaching the enrollment threshold required for launch viability, the role automatically converts to a salaried Head of School position ($100,000 – $120,000)
